The phenomenon of prostitution has become more and more evident. The proposals to review the Law involve a field larger than the one strictly referred to prostitution and imply, beside the public order issue, the relation between genders, the education of young people, culture and multiculturalism. The Prostitution Forum is a discussion table fostered by some organizations committed to protect women rights and dignity (CGIL, CISL and UIL trade unions, the Caritas Ambrosiana, the National Coordination of the Shelters, and the Province of Milan) to get over clichés and widen the view to all the issues concerning prostitution and trafficking.
The Forum does mean to be a place open to discussion, where it’s possible to make considerations even starting from the contradictions, and where to express different point of views.
For this reason, the Forum periodically confronts different knowledge, philosophical, legal, social, psychological, anthropological, all able to give a remarkable contribution to the discussion, in order to affect the political and social decisions.
So far four meetings have been accomplished, beside the research “Prostitution and public life” edited the University of the Studies of Milan, also available in English.
